The construction of the palate started in 1457 by the banker Lucca Pitti.
It was achieved for the Medici family and became in 1560 the main home of the leaders of the city.
It shelters an important artistic collection of the Medici, with the paints of the palatine gallery, the sumptuous royal apartments and the Boboli' garden.
